The excitement is palpable as the grid for GT America powered by AWS is set to explode with a dazzling lineup of new and returning entrants from the prestigious brands of Porsche and Ferrari. This year promises a thrilling competition as the single FIA Bronze-rated driver sprint race series gears up for a spectacular season. The latest provisional entry list, unveiled by SRO America, reveals a powerhouse assembly featuring renowned teams such as AF Corse, R. Ferri Motorsport, and Scuderia Corsa, all ready to take on the full-season challenge.
This year’s opening races at Sonoma Raceway are shaping up to be monumental, with nearly 25 entries expected, reflecting a stunning five-fold increase compared to last year’s numbers at Road America. The top-tier SRO3 class, dedicated to GT3-spec machinery, is poised to showcase at least 17 formidable contenders. Among them is the celebrated Memo Gidley, a former series champion, making a triumphant return with SKI Autosports in his Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, which made its debut mid-season last year. Gidley’s re-entry heightens the stakes, especially with the absence of last year’s champion Justin Rothberg, who was restricted by SRO America’s new sporting regulations.
As Gidley sets his sights on reclaiming glory, he will face stiff competition from Ross Chouest, who is back in action with his Chouest Povoldeo Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R after ending the previous season on a high note. Meanwhile, Mirco Schultis’ fan-favorite Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R will embark on its farewell tour, adding an emotional touch to the season as it bids adieu in its final year of homologation.
The Porsche presence is undeniable this season, with a strong showing of at least seven Porsche 911 GT3 Rs set to hit the track. Notable among them is GMG Racing, which will feature Kyle Washington, a fierce contender for the SRO3 title last year. Rukus Racing’s Scott Blind is also stepping up, transitioning from a successful year in Porsche one-make racing to the intense environment of GT3 competition. The talented Dave Musial Sr. will represent Wright Motorsports, with plans for a second entry later in the season, while Kellymoss is expected to field multiple entries with their 911 GT3 Rs, drivers yet to be announced.
On the Ferrari side, the iconic Prancing Horse will be represented by both Scuderia Corsa and R. Ferri, each fielding a single entry with drivers still to be revealed. Rodin Younessi has already secured his position in the No. 16 AF Corse Ferrari for a full-season fight, while Tony Davis gears up for a complete campaign with HP-TECH Motorsport, having made a splash in the latter rounds of last year.
The action doesn’t stop there. Random Vandals Racing brings a unique twist with CJ Moses behind the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, marking his transition from the Audi R8 LMS GT2 to GT3 racing. Moreover, Dan Knox will represent Lone Star Racing in a GT2 car, ensuring that the diverse range of cars keeps fans on the edge of their seats.
In the GT4 category, excitement simmers with confirmed entries from Craig Lumdsen in a Flying Lizard Motorsports BMW M4 GT4 EVO and Josef Petkes piloting an RCX Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
Looking ahead, the new-for-2026 Cup class promises to shake things up with Gotham Motorsports set to make a partial-season appearance featuring Ferrari 488 Challenge EVOs, while RacingSupport will introduce a Ginetta GTP8 for driver David Lecko. Additional Ginettas are anticipated to join the fray later in the season, making this year’s competition one of the most anticipated in recent memory.
With the stage set for a thrilling season, fans can expect nothing less than high-octane action, fierce rivalries, and unforgettable moments as these titans of motorsport prepare to battle it out on the track. The countdown to Sonoma Raceway has officially begun, and the excitement is electric!
