Tsuboi and Fukuzumi team up with KCMG for NLS2 challenge

In an electrifying announcement that has sent ripples through the motorsport community, KCMG has officially unveiled its formidable lineup for the upcoming NLS2, featuring the remarkable talents of Toyota factory drivers Sho Tsuboi and Nirei Fukuzumi. This dynamic duo will join forces with the already-announced David Pittard and Jesse Krohn, piloting KCMG’s No. 47 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo in what promises to be a thrilling debut for Tsuboi and Fukuzumi at the legendary Nordschleife.

The stakes are high as Tsuboi, a proven champion with four prestigious SUPER GT titles under his belt in just five seasons, prepares to tackle the daunting challenges of the Nürburgring. This circuit is infamous for its twists and turns, and Tsuboi is no stranger to its demands, having previously secured his Nürburgring A-permit during NLS7 and NLS8 last year while driving a Toyota GR Supra GT4 Evo, also fielded by KCMG. His experience and skill are set to be pivotal as he transitions to the more powerful GT3 machinery.

Fukuzumi, a seasoned race winner in the GT500 category and a valuable member of KCMG’s Super Formula lineup for the past two years, is equally eager to make his mark. He earned his license during NLS9 and is ready to embrace the challenge that awaits. “This will be my second time at this iconic track, and my maiden appearance in GT3 machinery there, so I think it’ll be a brilliant opportunity to gain valuable experience,” Tsuboi remarked, showcasing his enthusiasm and determination to learn about the Mercedes-AMG GT3’s performance at this challenging venue.

Fukuzumi echoed his teammate’s sentiments, stating, “I’m very happy to have this opportunity to race with KCMG in NLS. It will be my first time driving the Mercedes-AMG GT3, having only competed at the Nürburgring once before, so there is still a lot for me to discover.” His excitement is palpable as he anticipates the chance to absorb knowledge from his experienced teammates and make the most of this unique opportunity.

Despite not participating in the previously scheduled NLS1, which was unfortunately canceled due to adverse weather conditions, KCMG’s Mercedes-AMG made its presence felt during Friday practice, setting a positive tone for the team’s aspirations. Team owner Paul Ip expressed confidence in the team’s progress, stating, “We came away from the NLS1 Friday session with a very positive feeling. The team established a solid understanding of the Mercedes-AMG GT3, and the drivers’ feedback was extremely encouraging.”

With the countdown to NLS2 underway, KCMG is poised to embark on an important journey as they prepare for the prestigious Nürburgring 24 Hours. Ip emphasized the significance of this race, saying, “NLS2 is another important step as we focus on learning, building mileage, and preparing for the Nürburgring 24 Hours, while continuing to improve our competitiveness.” The stage is set for an unforgettable weekend of racing, and fans around the world will be watching closely as these talented drivers take on one of motorsport’s most iconic circuits.
