Haas’ late-season upgrades ignite a stunning turnaround in the 2025 F1 season

In a stunning twist that has sent shockwaves through the paddock, Haas F1 Team has unveiled how a daring late-season upgrade package catapulted them to a remarkable performance in the 2025 Formula 1 season, achieving their second-highest point total in history. This bold move came at a pivotal moment during the ultra-competitive Constructors’ Championship, where every point counts.

The Kannapolis-based outfit unveiled several new components at their home race, the United States Grand Prix, including a game-changing revised floor. This strategic decision was made when many rivals had already shifted their focus entirely to the new regulations set to take effect in 2026. While Haas may not have matched their seventh-place finish from the previous year, the team still managed to amass an impressive 21 points more than in 2024, underscoring the effectiveness of their upgrades.

Driver Oliver Bearman emerged as a standout performer, showcasing a remarkable synergy with the upgraded VF-25. He consistently scored points in five of the last six races, highlighted by a breathtaking fourth-place finish in Mexico. When asked about the impact of the upgrades, Bearman explained to the media, “It’s given us the feeling that we’ve been chasing all year. Basically, it makes the car a bit more on edge on occasion; with specific wind conditions and traffic, for example, it can be a bit more challenging with this upgrade. But I think that’s always the trade-off that you’re playing with, especially this late into a cycle of regs. I think it’s given us a few tenths – probably not even a few – even a tenth, tenth and a half. But with the way that F1 is at the moment, that’s enough to put you up the order.”

Bearman’s recognition of the risk involved in pushing for these upgrades is palpable, especially with significant chassis and engine regulations changes looming for the next season. However, as the smallest team on the grid, Haas’ decision to continue developing the 2025 car was essential, and Bearman firmly believes it was the right move. “Of course, it was a risk taking that upgrade this late into the season with the new regs next year,” he admitted. “But I think based on our position – and every Constructors’ position is incredibly valuable to a team like Haas – I think we’ve made the right call.”

This strategic gamble may prove to be a pivotal moment for Haas as they prepare for the upcoming challenges of the 2026 season. The team’s efforts to enhance their performance late in the season could be the catalyst that sets them apart in the increasingly competitive landscape of Formula 1. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how this bold decision pays off as Haas looks to build on their momentum and continue climbing the ranks in the future.
