Bagnaia reveals key upgrades: Subtle changes make a big impact on performance

This season is shaping up to be a dramatic turning point for Italian motorcycle ace Pecco Bagnaia. As he gears up for the 2026 MotoGP season at the Buriram circuit, the two-time world champion is ready to leave behind the tumultuous challenges of last year. Despite a hopeful start to 2025, Bagnaia found himself grappling with difficulties, particularly in the latter half of the season. He managed to salvage a third-place finish in Buriram, but it was clear that he was outmatched by the Márquez brothers, with Marc clinching victory and Alex securing second place.

The Desmosedici GP25 motorcycle became a source of frustration for Bagnaia, particularly with its performance during corner entries, which contributed to a disappointing second half of the season. Accumulating just 91 points across eleven weekends was not only disappointing but ultimately led to a looming exit from Ducati, with a transfer to Aprilia on the horizon for 2027.

However, a revitalized Bagnaia emerges this season, shedding the weight of uncertainty regarding his future. The early signs with the new Ducati are promising, as he showcases speed that rivals not only the Márquez brothers but also his soon-to-be teammate Marco Bezzecchi. Bagnaia approaches this season with a fierce determination, eager to prove to Ducati that parting ways with him was a grave mistake, especially after a 2025 season he views as an anomaly.

“I’m ready. The differences between last year’s bike and this year’s are very few, but they’re the right ones,” Bagnaia declared from Buriram, where he recently concluded a crucial pre-season test. He expressed greater satisfaction with his performance at this track than in Malaysia, emphasizing its importance as a litmus test for the season ahead.

Last season was undeniably tough for Bagnaia, who continues to hold the title of the most successful rider in Ducati’s history. Yet, he believes that periods of hardship can lead to significant growth. “Last year was a great lesson for me. Sometimes you can adapt to things; other times, you can’t. I will try not to repeat the mistakes of the past,” he reflected, signaling that he has learned valuable lessons from his struggles.

As the MotoGP season kicks off, all eyes will be on Bagnaia to see if he can translate his renewed confidence and speed into success on the track. The stakes are high, and the pressure is palpable, but for the talented rider, this could be the season that defines his legacy.
