In a thrilling announcement that has sent ripples through the motorsport community, Yifei Ye is set to make his much-anticipated debut in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, stepping into the spotlight with Triarsi Competizione’s GTD team for the illustrious Rolex 24 at Daytona. This marks a monumental moment for the Chinese driver as he joins the ranks of elite competitors in the legendary endurance race, piloting the No. 023 Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo.

Ye’s entry into this prestigious event is nothing short of electrifying, as he becomes the fourth driver to complete the lineup alongside seasoned racers Onofrio Triarsi, Kenton Koch, and Robert Megennis. This will be Ye’s inaugural participation in the iconic Florida endurance classic and his first stint behind the wheel of a Prancing Horse in a 24-hour race format that veers from his previous experience with the 499P Hypercar.

Since aligning with Ferrari, Ye has made a name for himself, showcasing his skill in several high-stakes races, including notable appearances in the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup and two memorable stints at the FIA GT World Cup in Macau. Nonetheless, an intriguing dynamic unfolds as Ye is the sole driver in the No. 023 Ferrari who has yet to compete for Triarsi, while his teammates have deep-rooted connections with the team from previous seasons.

Onofrio Triarsi himself kicked off the racing year in the No. 023 machine but later transitioned to the sister No. 021 car, adding to the team’s strategic maneuvers throughout the season. Meanwhile, Kenton Koch joined the roster mid-season after Korthoff Competition’s exit, and Robert Megennis has solidified his place with Triarsi after a successful debut at the Motul Petit Le Mans. Megennis, a New York native, is eager to return to the Rolex 24, marking his first appearance since his stint with NTE Sport in 2023.

As anticipation builds, Triarsi Competizione has announced plans to field two Ferraris at Daytona, revealing a star-studded lineup for their GTD Pro effort that promises to captivate spectators. The stage is set for an unforgettable showdown at Daytona, and with Ye stepping into this formidable role, fans can expect high-octane action and fierce competition as the clock ticks down to the race.
