Johann Zarco has proven to be a formidable force for Honda in the MotoGP arena, clinching a remarkable victory at the prestigious Le Mans and following it up with a commendable second-place finish at Silverstone. This dynamic French rider not only showcased his prowess on the track but also made headlines in the endurance racing circuit, adding another significant win to Honda’s accolades. Despite facing a rocky second half of the season, Zarco’s partnership with Honda has solidified with a new two-year contract with the LCR team, signaling a bright future ahead.

In a recent conference held by the French Motorcycle Federation, Zarco reflected on the rollercoaster ride of his season. “There have been ups and downs,” he stated with candid honesty, “but without a doubt, we will remember the victory at the French Grand Prix, a unique win.” He went on to express that if someone had asked him at the start of the year which race he would want to win, he might not have singled out the French Grand Prix. Yet, he now recognizes the profound significance of achieving that victory on home soil. “Everyone cried, and we continue to cry when we see the images: in reality, it’s a dream. If I can inspire many people, especially the youth, to get on a bike, why not?” His motivation remains unwavering, and he is eager to seize any opportunity to relive such exhilarating moments.

Zarco’s 2025 season kicked off with promise, a stark contrast to his struggles in 2024, where finishing in the points felt like an uphill battle. “I started the season not far from the podium, and that victory at the French Grand Prix, in particular conditions, allowed me to make a giant leap in the championship,” he explained. Climbing to fifth place in the standings after his podium finish at Silverstone, he felt a wave of momentum. However, the second half of the season proved to be a grueling challenge. “After the summer, I didn’t have time to recover because of a race in Suzuka, where we were down to two riders instead of three, which cost me a lot of energy.”

Technical issues also plagued his journey, contributing to some frustration within the Honda camp. Zarco acknowledged the intense pressure in MotoGP, stating, “If you’re not aligned, mentally and physically, the level is too high to guarantee a spot in MotoGP unless your name is Márquez.” He noted that even Márquez could finish second with a title already secured, highlighting the relentless competition. Despite these hurdles, Zarco managed to regain some confidence in the final three races of the season, reminding himself of the potential for success in 2026 with proper management and a lack of pressure.

Looking ahead, Zarco remains optimistic, affirming his ambition to be the top Honda rider. “Yes, being the first Honda rider remains a goal. Even though I stumbled in the second half of the season, I’m still the top Honda rider, with a two-year contract signed, this victory at the French Grand Prix, and a win in the endurance 8 Hours of Suzuka. So there’s only happiness!” As he gears up for the next chapter, Zarco is not only a rider to watch but also a beacon of hope and inspiration for the next generation of motorsport enthusiasts.
