The stage is set, the adrenaline is palpable, and as the sun rises over the Red Sea, the Monster Energy Honda HRC team stands on the brink of one of the most exhilarating challenges in motorsport history. With the 2026 Dakar Rally just around the corner, anticipation is building to a fever pitch as the team successfully navigates through scrutineering, signaling their readiness for the grueling race ahead.
Having arrived in Saudi Arabia last week, the team has immersed themselves in the local environment, acclimating to the unique time zone and soaring temperatures. This preparation included an essential final shakedown of their powerhouse machines, the Honda CRF450 RALLY. Riders Ricky Brabec, Skyler Howes, Adrien Van Beveren, and Tosha Schareina seized the opportunity to fine-tune their setups, honing their skills and boosting their confidence as they gear up for the opening stages of this iconic rally.
With nearly 8,000 kilometers of rugged terrain ahead, the 48th edition of the Dakar Rally promises to be a test of endurance and skill like no other. The rally will kick off in Yanbu, starting with a 41km liaison section that leads into a heart-pounding 22km prologue. Despite its short distance, this prologue will serve as a fierce battleground, demanding immediate performance from the riders. A strong result here is not just a feather in their cap; it will significantly influence their starting positions for stage one, setting the tone for the entire race.
Ruben Faria, the General Manager of the team, expressed his excitement and readiness as the countdown to the prologue draws near. “We are in Yanbu, the weather is good, the Honda CRF450 RALLY bikes have passed all the technical checks, and the riders are really excited to start tomorrow’s 22km prologue, which looks like a mini stage with a lot of waypoints. Our bikes have been prepared and we are ready for the most important race of the year that is the Dakar Rally.”
With the stakes higher than ever, this year’s competition will not only test the physical limits of the riders and their machines but will also challenge their strategic prowess as they navigate through one of the most demanding terrains on the planet. As the roar of the engines prepares to echo through the canyons, the world watches with bated breath, eager to see which team will rise to the occasion and etch their name into Dakar history. The countdown has begun, and the thrill of the rally is about to explode onto the global stage.
