Marcus Ericsson Joins Wayne Taylor Racing’s No. 45 DEX Lamborghini for 2026 Rolex 24 At Daytona

Wayne Taylor Racing with TWG Motorsports has locked in a major star for its assault on the 64th Running of the Rolex 24 At Daytona.
Today, the team confirmed that 2022 Indianapolis 500 champion Marcus Ericsson will complete the driver lineup of the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2, joining Danny Formal, Trent Hindman, and Graham Doyle for the iconic 24-hour endurance classic in January.

For Ericsson, this marks his third career Rolex 24 appearance, but his first-ever run in the GTD category, adding a new milestone to an already diverse racing résumé.

A Proven IndyCar Winner Steps Into GTD

Ericsson arrives as a full-time driver in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES with Andretti Global, also part of the TWG Motorsports family.
Across seven seasons, the Swedish driver has accumulated:

  • 4 INDYCAR wins (including the 2022 Indy 500)
  • 21 top-five finishes
  • A reputation as one of the grid’s most consistent battlers

Now, his focus turns to one of sports car racing’s most demanding challenges.

“I’m super excited to be back racing with Wayne Taylor Racing for the legendary Rolex 24,” Ericsson said.
“It will be my third time racing the Daytona 24 but the first time for me in the GTD class.
I’m joining a great lineup with Danny, Trent and Graham, whom I know quite well already after supporting my brother in Super Trofeo. I’m very thankful to Wayne, Travis and DEX for the opportunity. I can’t wait to go racing!”

Wayne Taylor: “We’re lucky to have him.”

WTR co-owner Wayne Taylor expressed his enthusiasm about bringing Ericsson into the program:

“I am very excited that we managed to sign Marcus for the Rolex 24.
He drove for us previously and we know he will be a great addition to the GTD program.
Danny, Trent and Graham did a great job in 2025, and we feel like we have a really good shot at a podium.”

Taylor emphasized the combination of experience, continuity, and speed — both from the drivers and the crew — as a foundation for a strong Daytona effort.

TWG Motorsports Leadership: A Perfect Fit for the Program

TWG Motorsports CEO Dan Towriss praised the move, seeing Ericsson’s addition as a perfect example of the organization’s evolving structure:

“Moves like this reflect the potential of the TWG Motorsports portfolio in creating an opportunity for Marcus to race alongside Danny, Trent and Graham.”

Countdown to Daytona Begins

The No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 will begin its 2026 IMSA WeatherTech campaign at the Roar Before the Rolex 24, running January 16–18, 2026.
The main event — the 64th Running of the Rolex 24 At Daytona — takes place January 21–25, 2026.

With Ericsson joining Formal, Hindman, and Doyle, Wayne Taylor Racing enters the new season with a strengthened lineup and serious podium ambitions.
